Whew: ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Won’t Run for Congress

(via The Washington Post)

Willie Robertson, the American flag-branded, ZZ Top-bearded star of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty,” does not have any plans to run for Congress from Louisiana.

Robertson sat down with the hosts of Fox News’ “The Five” to promote season four of his reality show featuring his family and their duck call business, and he was asked to weigh in on reports that he might run to replace Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander, who is set to resign in September to join the cabinet of Gov. Bobby Jindal.

“I heard I was doing that,” he said regarding the Twitter buzz his own political leanings have sparked, but “that’s news to me.”

“I’m kinda busy right now,” he elaborated. “I gotta lot of stuff going on.”

Evicted Houseguest Will Return to Big Brother House

Huge news on last night’s episode of Big Brother! Not the eviction of Jessie, we saw that one coming from a mile away.

No, it turns out that an evicted HG will be returned to play the game! It will be one of the guests from the jury, so that could mean Candice, Jessie, Judd or the player who is evicted next week. From the sounds of it, there will be a competition among those 4 players for a return ticket to the BB house.

This will essentially undo the double-eviction night from last week, so perhaps we’ll have another double to look forward to in the coming weeks. But mainly, I’m just hoping that it means Judd (J-U-DOUBLE-D) will get another bite at the apple. He was one of the few HGs left that I didn’t find completely disgusting.

Dear God No: ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Urged to Run for Congress

(via The Washington Examiner)

A new political dynasty might soon be joining the Kennedys, Clintons and Bushes: Duck Dynasty, that is.

Some key Republican operatives are eager to woo one of the hit show’s stars–Willie Robertson–to run for the seat given up by retiring Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander.

Alexander, expressing frustration with divided government, is going to work in Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s cabinet. He will leave at the end of September and a special election will be held to fill the open seat.

He represents the 5th District, including Monroe, La., home to the group headed by Robertson, the game call and hunting companies Duck Commander and Buck Commander. Alexander and his staff are also friendly with the Robertson family, especially Willie.

Robertson is more famous for the TV hit Duck Dynasty on A&E about the family business, in which where he is known for being the CEO prankster. He is a self-described “redneck millionaire.”

Showtime Follows Final Days of the Terminally Ill in New Series

This fall, premium cable network Showtime will take an unflinching, in-depth look at some remarkable individuals facing their own imminent mortality in their new documentary series Time of Death, which comes from executive producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz of the Magical Elves production team (Top Chef).

Cameras will follow brave, terminally ill individuals as they live out their final days, supported by family, friends, healthcare teams and hospice workers, who gently help guide the process.

“This SHOWTIME documentary series is an examination of people in the last days and weeks of their life and how they and their families make the transition from life to death,” said David Nevins, President of Entertainment for SHOWTIME Networks Inc. “This is not an easy show, but it is a subject I’ve always wanted to be able to explore in detail. And I know it will make for a powerful and compelling viewing experience.”

The program will attempt to weave together these complex, unforgettable stories into an affecting portrait: a single mother of three with Stage IV breast cancer; a grandmother with inoperable pancreatic cancer who is also a psychotherapist who specializes in the field of death and dying; a veteran with a rare cancer facing the end with his parents beside him; and a young woman with Stage IV melanoma, among other profiles. Each unique, emotionally resonant tale will serve as a tangible reminder of the finite nature of time and mortality.

“Producing TIME OF DEATH has been one of the most intense and thought- provoking experiences of our careers,” said Lipsitz. “Nobody ever talked about death in our halls before – but now there is a much more open dialogue and its healthy and meaningful and we hope we can pass that experience on to the viewer.” Cutforth adds, “This is a series about death but it’s also about life and living and humor and love. It’s a brave series to do and we are thankful SHOWTIME has given us the opportunity to tell these stories.”

Time of Death is currently in post-production for a fall debut.
