‘Duck Dynasty’ Scores Monster Ratings for A&E

The hicks of ‘Duck Dynasty’ just made cable television ratings history! Yes, I’m serious. Wednesday night’s fourth season premiere was the most-watched non-fiction series in cable TV history.

The A&E quasi-reality show delivered 11.8 million viewers at 10pm.

Jim Rome Continues to Draw Horrible Ratings for Showtime

Not exactly a reality series in the traditional sense, but Jim Rome’s sports interview and commentary program on Showtime is mainly notable for being one of the lower rated things on television.

This week’s edition was no different, according to numbers from Nielsen.

The Futon Critic helpfully reports

Only around 40,000 people tuned in for the telecast.   That’s about 0.3% of the audience that was watching ‘Duck Dynasty’ on A&E.

‘America’s Got Talent’ Continues to Dominate Ratings

NBC is the #1 network among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox Tuesday night in adults 18-49 and total viewers, led by “America’s Got Talent,” the #1 show of the night on those networks in 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures.

· From 9-11 p.m. ET, “America’s Got Talent” (2.4/7 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall) is the #1 telecast of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key categories, topping the #2 telecast on those nets in 18-49 by an 85% margin (with a 2.4 from 9-11 p.m. vs. the 1.3 from 8-10 for Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance”). In the 9-11 p.m. time period, “Talent” is #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC and Fox in every key ratings measure.

· In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, “Talent” generated a 190% margin of victory among ABC, CBS and NBC in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 2.9 rating vs. a 1.0 for CBS’s #2 “Person of Interest” encore), and dominated those networks in all other key measures.

· From 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of “Hollywood Game Night” (1.1/4 in 18-49 3.7 million viewers overall) is currently matching last week’s 18-49 rating and is up in total viewers by 1% (3.731 million vs. 3.711 million) to hit a four-week high in the slot, pending updates. “Hollywood Game Night” is tied for #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 with ABC’s original “Extreme Weight Loss” and is #2 outright among those nets in adults, men and women 18-34.

· The “Hollywood Game Night” encore matched NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in the time period in eight weeks (since “America’s Got Talent” aired in the slot on June 18).

‘Naked and Afraid’ Hit New Ratings High on Sunday

Discovery Channel’s hit new series “Naked and Afraid” was the #1 ad-supported cable program among in both the 25-54 and 18-49 demos on Sunday, July 28.

The series earned 2.38 household rating, with 3.62 million total viewers tuning in.  That was the highest rating ever for the series and a tie for the highest-rated survival telecast in the network’s history since June 2009.

Discovery boasts in their press release that “Naked and Afraid” out-delivered multiple broadcast programs in both Persons and Men 25-54 delivery including CBS’ “60 Minutes” “Unforgettable,” NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and ABC’s “Whodunnit?” and “Celebrity Wife Swap.” In addition, the show out-performed several notable cable programs including HBO’s “Newsroom,” History’s “Mountain Men,” TNT’s “Falling Skies,” Showtime’s “Dexter” and Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”

The season finale special, “Naked and Afraid: Bares All” airs this Saturday, August 3 at 10pm, where all the survivalists (and family members) return with insight and reveal “never-before-seen footage” from the hit new series.

Bravo Relocates Low Rated ‘Property Envy’ to Lesser Real Estate

Bravo’s Property Envy is being relocated due to lousy ratings.  The cable network’s hot property threesome makes a late-night move starting Tuesday, July 30 to its new time slot at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT, immediately following Watch What Happens Live.

On the recent July 17th airing, Property Envy‘s 10pm episode scored only 585,000 viewers.   To put that into context, the show’s Bravo network lead-in, Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis, had an audience of 949,000 airing during the 9 p.m. hour.

“Property Envy” is produced by World of Wonder, with Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey, Tom Campbell and Robert Lifton serving as Executive Producers.

NBC Touts Ratings Success for Monday Line-Up

nbcToday’s NBC press release touts the network’s pleasure with the success of an all reality-themed night programming.  The peacock is airing ‘American Ninja Warrior’ and ‘Get Out Alive’ from 8-10pm, followed by the fiction/dramatic series ‘Siberia’ about a reality show gone horribly wrong.

The release highlights the following numbers:

From 8-9 p.m. ET, “American Ninja Warrior” (1.5 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) delivered half-hour to half-hour growth in every key ratings category, including jumps of 21% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.7 from a 1.4) and 10% in total viewers (5.4 million vs. 4.9 million). “American Ninja Warrior” is currently running within a tenth of a rating point of last week’s 1.6 in 18-49 (and may round up in official nationals, currently rating at a 1.54) while delivering a gain week to week in total viewers (5.131 million vs. 5.066 million).

Versus the same night last year, “American Ninja Warrior” is up 12% in total viewers (5.131 million vs. 4.587 million).  In the time period, “American Ninja Warrior” is #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in all key adult-male demos (men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54) and #2 in adults 18-49.
